At Modern Village Midwifery we strongly believe in the “village” concept - that we can offer so much more collectively than separately, and that our strength lies in community.
This means that both of our midwives bring their own set of unique skills, passions, and gifts to the practice, allowing our clients to benefit from our collective strengths and combined 32+ years of experience in birth work. Sarah and Elizabeth have been working together for over 11 years. First assisting each other in their private midwifery practices and then joining together in 2020 to begin this small group practice.
Our clients love having two midwives, as it helps preserve continuity of care and relationship building, which are hallmarks of traditional midwifery. Having both of the midwives who provided your prenatal care attend your birth allows for professional collaboration which improves both quality of care and safety. Our partnership practice combined with very low client volume is unique in the Tulsa area and helps prevent provider burn out and increase client satisfaction.

At Modern Village Midwifery, we seek to serve families throughout their childbearing years and beyond.
We provide holistic, compassionate care catered to each individual’s unique needs and desires, helping to educate and guide them through making informed decisions about their care.
We strongly believe that where, how, and with whom a birth takes place is incredibly significant.
The way you and your family are treated throughout the course of the childbearing year matters. Thus, we do all that we can to honor this influential time and to provide a gentle, peaceful, respectful birth experience for all of our clients.
The Modern Village Difference
The entirety of each hour-long appointment is spent one-on-one with Elizabeth or Sarah. The midwives alternate seeing clients for prenatal visits. This allows them to get to know you, your family, and your vision for your birth. All care is performed by one of the midwives, we do not employ birth assistants, nurses, or other office staff. They do all the blood draws, scheduling, and labor assessments as well as answer every client communication such as calls and texts. Sarah and Elizabeth attend births together as a team, this allows us to provide you with continuity of care and means you will have known and trusted midwives in your birth space.
The midwives have a strong commitment to preventative care and strive to work with clients to have their healthiest and most comfortable pregnancy possible. They love sharing natural remedies with clients and are experienced in many modalities for holistic treatment of pregnancy complaints including supplements, herbs, and nutrition - as well as body balancing and mobility work.
